An Outstanding Church School

Mathematics

Maths at Bishop Monkton CE Primary School

We aim to produce confident Mathematicians equipped with a strong understanding of concepts, ideas and methods and, perhaps more crucially, resilient learners who are capable of building, exploring and using the many interwoven links that exist within and beyond this subject.

Mega Maths Day

Bishop Monkton recently hosted a Mega Maths Day. Children were invited to create Maths-themed fancy dress costumes to wear to school on the day and they spent the day participating in Maths-based events.

The aim of the day was to raise the profile of Maths across school, to encourage children to feel positive and enthusiastic about Maths and to increase their resilience when working through longer or more challenging problems.

Have a look at some of the photos below to see what the pupils were doing.
